As one of the most multifaceted wineries on this list, it is no surprise that Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery in Swisher topped our list of the best wineries in Iowa.

The wine selection includes fruit-forward house wines, estate wines made from grapes collected from the on-site vineyards, and aged premier wines.

An example from each includes Harvest Blush, La Crescent, and Double Oak Reserve. But wine is only a portion of what is offered as they also produce bourbon whiskey, mash whiskey, vodka, barrel-aged rum, various flavors of brandy, and gin.

Start off your meal with your choice of a meat or cheese board from local shops. There are 6 wood-fire pizza options that include classic flavors, such as pepperoni, to more inventive options that are topped with braised ribeye or smoke brisket.

Events taking place at Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery include live music, grape picking, and yoga classes.

Eagles Landing Winery offers 36 wines that range in style from dry wines to sweet dessert wines. Rhode Red, Bluesfest, Serenity, Bee Happy, and Mrs Sippi are some of the most popular selections available.

4. Fireside Winery

Named after the special moments spent with family and friends around a fire pit, Fireside Winery has been serving Marengo since 2007.

Their menu includes various options of reds, whites, sparkling, and seasonal options. Dolce Iowa St. Croix, Firefly, Marquette, and Sweetheart are just a few examples of each style available at Fireside Winery.

If you happen to visit the winery in the warm summer months, there are also wine slushies available for purchase.

The Stone Cliff Winery production and tasting room is located in the Historic Star Brewery Building in the Port of Dubuque along the Mississippi River, while their vineyard is in the rolling hills north of the city.

Wild Pineapple, Tawny Port, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Purple Cow are just a few of the wines available for purchase at the Stone Cliff Winery.

For an appetizer, order the cheesy mozzarella sticks, or the southwest chicken egg rolls. Lunch options include soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and paninis, while various flatbread pizza options are available all day.

The property Soldier Creek Winery now rests on had been in the Secor family for 50 years before a barn fire in 2002 caused them to shift business plans to plant cold-hardy grapevines and has been a staple in Fort Dodge ever since.

Primrose, Frontenac Blanc, Goldenrod, and Ghost Pig Cider Rose are just a few of the options available for purchase. You can also order a wine slushy to help you beat the unrelenting summer heat.

Exciting events taking place at Soldier Creek Winery include bingo, live music, and case sales.

The Harvest Festival taking place in September of 2021 on the grounds of the vineyard will include a fun run, grape stomping competition, craft, and junk fair, vineyard hayrack tours, musical entertainment, and food vendors.

Having the honor of being the oldest operating winery in the state of Iowa, Ackerman Winery in the Amana Colonies has been in business since 1956.
